The value of initiative

Aynimundo is a non-profit Civil Society/ Non Government Organization, set up in 2001, based in Lima, Peru.

We are a multidisciplinary team of professionals whose purpose is to assist children, adolescents and young people in achieving their personal and societal goals. We are now based in our new purpose-built training centre, surrounded by gardens and other green areas, that offers the space and comfort to foster the skills and development of our young clients.

The design for the building is based upon an ecological and organic concept of architecture, which aims to maintain its relationship with the local environment and the existing surrounding buildings. The structure is mainly comprised of wood and other natural materials, the roof is covered with vegetation and other surfaces finished in environmentally approved paint in natural colours. It is a functional and totally sustainable architecture.

“Ayni” in Quechua (the original and still spoken language of the Andes) means “reciprocal support in all aspects of life”; a principle that guides our work, and which we aspire to project as a value in the “World.”

Encourage active participation in an inclusive and innovative environment.

Young people and their families have the right to fully participate in new and sustainable activities in education, the workplace and the built environment in order to improve their overall wellbeing.

Our Programmes

We currently have two programmes, one focussing on the human aspects “Centro de Atención a la Diversidad”, and the other the built environment “Plataforma Urbana”.

Centro de Atención a la Diversidad

Teaching and support – This provides comprehensive support for children, adolescents, young people and their families to foster their development and participation in society.

Learning in relevant environments Our young clients learn self-reliance in the various situations and environments they would expect to face in day-to-day living with family, in school and in their wider community.

Training and support for families We promote activities that allow families to recognise and remove any barriers that may have hindered family life and the development of their children’s potential.

Promotion of inclusive employability Working with their families, we promote the inclusion of people with disabilities in the workplace; liaising with the community, institutions and employers, and encouraging and assisting entrepreneurship for those with disabilities through identifying and growing their skills, capacities and confidence.

Inclusive education training We provide training for teachers, enabling them to learn about and use teaching aids in order to identify and overcome barriers to learning. The aim is to achieve classrooms and schools that reflect and embrace the diversity of cultures represented by the student body.

Plataforma Urbana

Architectural and engineering technical assistance for construction projects

We provide technical assistance in architecture and engineering with the object of assisting projects to create built spaces in harmony with the local society and physical environment. We thus promote: care for the environment, lower energy consumption, reduction of carbon footprint, improving accessibility for all, making buildings structurally sound in the long term and minimising need for maintenance – generating a healthy environment and well-being in living and working spaces. In summary: responsible design in all aspects.
